Academic Forum Invitation: Impact of Covid 19 on EU Future Defense Expenditure

You are cordially invited to the Academic Forum of the New University dedicated to the Impact of Covid 19 on EU Future Defense Expenditure. The Academic Forum will focus on the EU’s future Common Security and Defense Policy.

The Forum, hosted by Liliana Brožič, PhD, will feature a panel of distinguished speakers:

  • Boris Rutar, PhD, Ministry of Defence, Ljubljana,
  • Olivera Injac, PhD, University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro,
  • Thomas-Durel Young, Center for Civil-military relations, Monterey.

The event will be held in English and will take place on Tuesday, 8 December 2020, at 15:00 (CET) via Zoom application.

1st Slovenian Jean Monnet Day

On Monday, 7 December 2020, School of Advanced Social Studies, will host 1st Slovenian Jean Monnet Day. As a part of a Jean Monnet special sessions, Prof. Matej Avbelj will participate at the roundtable, entitled: Varieties of Populisms in Europe.

Academic Forum: Judicial Reforms in Comparative Perspective: Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia

On Thursday, 19. 11. 2020, New University hosted academic forum dedicated to the Judicial Reforms in Comparative Perspective: Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The chair, Prof Matej Avbelj, was joined by three distinguished speakers: Prof Alan Uzelac (University of Zagreb), judge Jan Zobec (Supreme Court of Slovenia), and Prof Kamil Baranik (Faculty of Law of UMB, Slovak Republic).

The academic forum was intended to discuss the state of judiciary in three EU member states to identify the strengths and weaknesses, and in particular to pave the path towards the necessary reforms.
