Academic Forum Invitation: European Constitutional Heritage

You are cordially invited to the Academic Forum of the New University, organized together with the Embassy of Poland in Slovenia, which will be dedicated to the European Constitutional Heritage, focusing on the evolution of the Polish and Slovenian constitutional experiences.

The chair, prof. Matej Avbelj, will be joined by three distinguished speakers:

  • H.E. Krzysztof Olendzki, Polish Ambassador to Slovenia,
  • Prof. Richard Butterwick-Pawlikowski, University College London and College of Europe,
  • Prof. Peter Jambrek, Founding father of the Slovenian Constitution, New University.

The event will be held in English and will take place on Wednesday, 17 November 2021, between 15:00 – 16.30 (CET), via Zoom application and Facebook. You can find more information about the academic forum here.

International Conference: »Future of EU Constitutionalism«

You are cordially invited to an international conference entitled “Future of EU Constitutionalism,” which will take place on 23 and 24 September 2021. The program and a more detailed description of the conference are available here.


The conference will be held as follows:

  • In-person (at Mestni trg 23, Ljubljana; France Bučar lecture hall): meeting the vaccinated-recovered-tested rule and prior registration (due to limited capacity) is required. We are collecting applications until Monday, September 20, 2021, to the e-mail address: rektorat@nova-uni.si.

All about people 2021: Digital Transformation in Science, Education and Arts

On Tuesday, 16. 3. 2021, je dr. Matej Avbelj participated in the plenary session entitled: Rule of Law in the European Union: between Theory and Practice. The event took place within the framework of the 9th Scientific Conference with International Participation organized by Alma Mater Europaea and under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor. The conference was dedicated to to the topic of digital transformation in science, education, and arts.

On Wednesday, 10. 3. 2021, New University hosted academic forum dedicated to the Compliance with European Court of Human Rights Judgments in Slovenia.

The chair, Prof. Matej Avbelj, was joined by five distinguished speakers: Assoc. Prof. Veronika Fikfak (København University), Assoc. Prof. David Kosar (Masaryk University), Prof. Sasa Zagorc (University of Ljubljana), Mrs. Ula Kos (University of Ljubljana) and Prof. Jernej Letnar Černič (New University).
